Last night was our first night out on the town (top pictures). It's funny because the whole town has designated certain nights to go to certain bars or clubs. From my understanding, the word on the street is Tuesday nights go to Anchor Bar in Portstewert, Wednesday nights go to Kelley's Club, and the bar at the Student Union is always a safe bet as well. So last night was really fun, I had my first pint of Guinness...it was good. Not my favorite but maybe it will grow on me! There was kareoke and I sang "American Boy" by Estelle and Kanye West. I dedicated it to all the Irish boys in the crowd hahahahaha :) It was a good time and then people went upstairs to the club. I didn't really like the club because it is SO LOUD and CROWDED! And it's hot and you can't move really, just dancing and bumping into people. We took a taxi back to our rooms after that.
Today we had meetings again and learned about the modules, or classes. I organized my schedule and it all works out. I am taking Irish classes mostly but I need to meet with my advisor and make sure I am doing everything correctly. I also had tea with the Mayor or Coleraine today! It was neat. He is a nice guy. Then some friends and I went to town and bought European cell phones. The phone was 10 pounds and the phone plan is 10 pounds a month, pretty cheap! My new number is 07543 970 928.
I'm so tired, I'm not sure if I am completely done being jetlagged or what. I'm going to call it an early night. Catch you up on more later! Also here is the view from my corner window (last picture)! These are some pictures of my friends. Emily is the blonde from Canada, Siri is the brunette from Oregon, and Shamos is the guy from Greece who is in the first picture. I posted some pretty scenes I saw walking around today on campus and in town. The third picture is of St. Patricks Church (St. Patricks Day!!!!)
Night (or good afternoon) everyone!
Aw im bummed i missed you tonight. But I'm SO happy to hear about the events of the past couple days. It's funny you guys went out during the week, but remember when we first got to Rome- we slept asap, but THEN we went on the PUB CRAWL! Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pictures and you're right- what a sweet view from your room. Lucky! :)
I need to talk to you! It's gonna be hard tomorrow because we have back to school night starting at 5:30 so I won't be home till late. So how bout a date on Friday night? Or will that be a bad time for you? Maybe this weekend? Let me know! Love you.
Yes, get all this partying out of your system before classes start on Monday!:) I'm very happy that you're feeling okay about things and have worked at making these first friends (not that anyone doubted you would:) What a beautiful, bucolic, peaceful view you have from your room! Seems like some sheep should be grazing by the tables.:)That's fantastic! I'm glad you have a schedule figured out (and that you will check it with an advisor)- once classes start you'll really have a structure for what you're doing there (Right? Classes? Studying?:) I'll cancel your ATT phone until you come back, and thank you for your new phone number. Probably does not include international calls for that plan, does it? I love Skype (the video calls and the instant messaging) so we can use it frequently. Okay, Love you darlin'! Really like the pics - worth a thousand words, some Irish author probably said!:)
ReplyDeleteBB- People here go out every night of the week!! Its crazy. Its like there's no such thing as a school night. Dad, don't worry...people still go to class and do well in school. They learn how to balance it all. Friday night (tonight) I don't know what I will be doing. Probably going out somewhere. But I usually get home around 1 or 2. That would be 5pm your time. So since you have the teacher thing, maybe Saturday we could talk.
ReplyDeleteDad- I have seen lots of sheep roaming the green land. Its funny I feel like I went back in time or something :) I talked to my Advisor (Dr. Nerys Young) today and registered for classes. More about that in my next blog. My phone plan cost 10 pence a minute (I'm pretty sure) to call internationally or text interntionally. I have a 10 pound credit each month so I can text you maybe 2 times a month :) Love you guys!
