Yes, its true. I am getting a little homesick already. Its difficult because most of my friends I've made here are only staying for 1 semester. So they will all be leaving to go home for Christmas and I will be staying here... My friend Emily is staying and invited me to come travel with her and her boyfriend, but I am just thinking how nice it would be to see everyone for Christmas!
:(
Mom, if I'm not home for the holidays then you have to come visit me because I will be lonely! Meagan might come to visit in January which would be really great. And Dad in April. I'm sure I will be over the homesick feeling in a week or two (hopefully).
I had my first day of real class today! It was great, I love having something my brain can be engaged in. I've always loved school :) I had two classes today and both professors were fun and I could tell they were extremely knowledgable and liked their teaching subject. I have the same schedule as one other American student from Philidelphia who is also getting the Advanced Certificate of Irish Studies. She is very witty and sarcastic, I like her. Her name is Maureen. I started looking at trips to Spain and found out that I can book a round trip flight for 40 pounds! I will look more into after I talk to Sally, she studied in Barcelona for a year so she is an expert!
I am going to sit in my now cute and comfy bed and hopefully finish Trinity tonight. Here is a picture of last night with my friends at the Anchor bar.
Sorry to hear you're homesick! (It's bound to happen) I need you to get my letter like tomorrow and open it and read it because all my sisterly advice about what to do when you get lonely is in there!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think that 40 pounds to go to Spain is more reasonable that 2,000 dollars to get home for Christmas, as much as I'd like to see you. That is part of the "once in a lifetime experience" thing that you signed up for and are excited about remember?? :) If you don't remember right now, I'm sure it'll come back to you soon....
DUDE I need to talk to you... you are my filter for all important and unimportant information in my life and it's building up...I need to talk to you!
Hopefully you got my Skype message but let's make a date so I can look forward to seeing you please. MUCH LOVE- mwah!
Hi sweetie! I know you feel lonely but it sounds like your being lonely because of something in the FUTURE...like Christmas break! Don't feel sad now while you have all these great friends with you. Enjoy every moment...in the present moment! Don and I are planning to see you over Christmas break, we just don't have the tickets yet...but we WILL. We can't wait to spend time with you discovering your new beautiful country! Lots of Hugs, Momma
ReplyDeletePoor sweetums. Homesick is a sad, melancholy, heavy feeling, isn't it. But, I'd be surprised if you didn't get homesick - part of the emotional roller-coaster that is this adventure!:) I'm excited that you liked your classes today, and that you love school, and you have new, interesting friends that you care about already - you've only been there nine days!!! Bet it seems longer for you. So feel however you feel (and you won't be happy all the time) then wait for the ride to take an upswing! Ahaha! Here's a hug, sweetums [ ].
ReplyDeleteBB- What days are best to talk to you? I don't know your schedule, and I'm still getting used to mine. Weekends are probably the best but I think I will be gone this weekend to go to Derry. Maybe Sunday we can skype?? I can't WAIT for your package!!! That will make me feel better.
ReplyDeleteMomma- I'm very relieved that you guys are coming in December. It will be nice to see family. I am usually good at being positive and happy in the present moment but sometimes it is difficult! Miss you and love you!
Daddio- It feels like I've been here for a month already, which makes me think that I will want to come home in December for a while. Maybe that feeling will pass haha. It is definitely a rollercoaster. I was skipping down the beach the other day because I was so happy and excited I was here in Ireland! Then that night I was sad and missed home and everyone I left behind. Its exhausting after a while. Naps are easy to take here though :)
Ellie, let's plan on Sunday then! How about 1pm my time which would be 9 your time? Or will you be going to bed early that night?
ReplyDeleteEllie,
ReplyDeleteThis picture of you in the pub looks like it's a staged setting from a movie! Very cool, quaint booth you found. :)
Hope you've had some fun in school this week. And don't forget to get out your "fiddle" and join the music makers... they really do promote participation!
BB- Sunday at 9 sounds good. I will plan on it!
ReplyDeleteyay! ok its on my calendar so its a date! see you soon! :)
